田貫湖ふれあい自然塾

田貫湖ふれあい自然塾に行きました宿泊施設もある滞在型施設

富士箱根伊豆国立公園内にあり、富士宮市の北部に広がる朝霧高原の一画に位置する田貫湖は、周辺に白糸の滝や小田貫湿地など自然環境を豊富に有し、四季を通じて寒暖の差も少なく、気候条件にも恵まれた環境にあります。この田貫湖のほとりに、昨年7月、環境省が進める「田貫湖ふれあい自然塾整備事業」の第1号として「田貫湖ふれあい自然塾」がオープンしました。運営は、環境省、静岡県、富士宮市、（財）休暇村協会、（社）日本環境教育フォーラムの5社からなる運営協議会で行われています。日常的な施設運営業務は（社）日本環境教育フォーラムから派遣された専門スタッフが行い、施設の維持管理業務と宿泊コテージ（定員１００名）の予約管理は（財）休暇村協会が担当しています。

「田貫湖ふれあい自然塾」とは質の高い自然体験を通じて、自然を学び、楽しみ、環境への関心を持ってもらうこと、そしてそれを行動に結びつけてもらうことを目標としています。また、平成12年度より全国の小中学校で始まっている「総合的な学習」に対応した、子供の生きる力を育むためのプログラムが多彩に織りこまれています。

環境省が考える自然体験型施設は実際どのようなことを実践しているのでしょうか、我々エコ・ミッション・スタッフが実際に自然塾でいくつかのプログラムを体験してみることにしました。プログラムにはビジター向けプログラム（一般来館者）と団体向けプログラム（一般・学校）に分けられます。今回はビジター向けプログラムの「ジオラマ火山洞窟探検」と「バードコール教室」を体験させてもらうことにしました。それぞれのプログラムには専門のスタッフが指導にあたります。今回担当されたのはコーディネーターの梅崎さんです。

まずは「ジオラマ火山洞窟探検」です。富士山の裾野に広がる樹海の中にはこの火山洞窟がいくつも点在しています。この火山洞窟を忠実に再現したジオラマ内を探検するといったものです。ヘルメットを被りいざ出陣です。洞窟内はかなり暗く、目を凝らしながら手探りで進みます。ちょっと気を緩めるとズルズル落ちていきそうな傾斜です。モルタルで出来た溶岩石は本物と見間違うほどリアルにできているため、本当の洞窟に潜り込んだかのような錯覚にとらわれます。木や溶岩石の間には鳥や小動物などが顔を覗かせ、スタッフから出題されるクイズや冗談なども交えながら楽しく探検ができるプログラムとなっていました。

「バードコール教室」ではウイスキー樽から切り取った約5cm四方の楢の木に穴をあけ、そこに業務用ボルトを深くねじ込みます。そして、少しずつ抜き取っていくと「ピヨッ、ピヨッ、ピピッー、ピッ、ピッ」と小鳥の鳴き声に似た音がします。「これはシジュウカラ、これはホオジロ、これはツバメ」といった具合に次々に梅崎さんはバードコールを使って鳥の鳴き真似を披露してくれました。以前、富士山の樹海の中でこのバードコール教室をやった時には、この鳴き声に誘われて子供たちの頭の上や膝の上に小鳥が集まってきたそうです。

他にも本物の火山洞窟を探検するプログラムや人工壁を登るクライミングウォール、身近な自然の中で行われるネイチャーゲームなど様々なプログラムが用意されています。またソーラーシステムや屋上緑化など建築設備にも環境共生の技術が多数採用され、こちらも身近にその設備を体感できるようなシステムになっています。

今回「田貫湖ふれあい自然塾」でいくつかのプログラムを体感しながら感じたことは、とにかく面白おかしく体験することで、この自然や環境といった問題に興味を持ち、そしてなにかに「気づく」ことができるというです。楽しみながらそこで何かを発見し「なぜ」という疑問をもち、そこで初めて「こうしよう」という新たな行動が生まれるのです。体感型の自然塾がこれから新たな教育の現場になるのかもしれません。しかしクルマで行って、突然「はいここが自然です」といったスイッチをつけるテーマパーク的なものでなく、気がついたら自然に入っていた、そんな段階的なイントロダクションがあればさらにいいかなとも思いました。

Tanuki-ko Fureai Natural School

Tanuki-ko is in Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, and is located in the stroke of Asagiri Highland which spreads in the north of Fujinomiya-city. This lake has Shiraito Falls around it, there are also few differences of temperature through the four seasons, and it is blessed also with climate conditions. By the side of this lake, the "Tanuki-ko Fureai Nature School" opened in July last year as No.1 of the "Tanuki-ko Fureai Natural School Maintenance Enterprise" which the Ministry of Environment advances. Management is performed in the Management Conference constituted by the Ministry of Environment, Shizuoka Prefecture, Fujinomiya-city, the Vacation Village Association, and the Japanese Environmental Education Forum. The special staff dispatched from the Japanese Environmental Education Forum is performing everyday institution management business. The Vacation Village Association is taking charge of the maintenance management business of the institution, and of the reservation management of t stay cottage (capacity of 100).

Through high quality natural experience, a "Tanuki-ko Fureai Natural School" at having you get interested in environment. The program for cherishing the power in which a child lives corresponding to "synthetic study" which has started from the 2000 fiscal year at elementary and junior high schools all over the country is introduced.

The Ecomission staff actually decided to experience the program of this Natural School. Programs are divided into the program for visitors , and the program for organizations. This time, we experienced "Diorama volcano spelunking" and "Birdcall classroom". The special staff is in charge of each program at instruction. What it took charge of this time is the coordinator, Mr. Umezaki.

First of all, it is "Diorama volcano spelunking." It is dotted with many of these volcano caves in Jukai which spreads in the foot in Mt. Fuji. We explored inside of Diorama which reproduced this volcano cave faithfully.

Then, in "Birdcall classroom", we make a hole in the tree of the Japanese oak of about 5cm around cut out of whiskey slack, and thrust a business-use bolt deeply. If we extract it little by little, there will be sound similar to the cry of a little bird. Mr. Umezaki announced the imitation of bird twittered using the birdcall. It is said that it was invited to this cry and the little bird has flocked on children's head and a knee when this birdcall classroom is before done in Jukai at Mt. Fuji.

Various programs, such as a program which otherwise explores a real volcano cave, a climbing wall which reaches an artificial wall, and a nature game performed in familiar nature, are prepared. Much technology of environmental symbiosis is adopted also as construction equipment, such as a solar system and roof tree planting.

What we felt, feeling the program of "Tanuki-ko Fureai Natural Private School" can get interested in nature or environment, and can notice it by experiencing nature happily at something. Something is discovered with pleasure there, it has a question of "why", and the new action "it will carry out like this" is produced for the first time there. A felt type natural private school may become the spot of future new education.
